Elvira: Mistress of The Dark (AKA Cassandra Peterson), is a true icon of the horror scene. First appearing in the early 1980s hosting late night horror movies in Los Angeles, Elvira quickly became an substantial star, thanks to a combination of her kooky humour and sexy looks.
Following her TV debut, Elvira began to appear on the home video series ‘Thriller Video’, performing the same role hosting cheesy horror films such as ‘The Monster Club’ (this was followed by a 2nd series entitled ‘Elviras Midnight Madness’). In 1988, Elvira broke free of the confines of the small screen, when her debut feature film ‘Elvira: Mistress of The Dark’. A true cult hit, the film propelled her into international star status. This increased popularity lead to an explosion in the characters presence, with everything from costume kits to video games being produced throughout the late 80s and into the 1990s.
Elvira returned to her natural home of horror hosting in 2004, for the home video/dvd series ‘Elvira’s Box of Horrors’. Continuing to this day, Elvira makes public appearances, and appears on TV .
