The Friday The 13th Collection Deluxe Edition is quite possibly the ultimate box set for avid F13 fans such as myself. Containing the entire saga (including the reboot, sadly), this set is the ultimate fan lead collection. But what makes it so vital? Well, read on to discover more…

Synopsis:

The Friday The 13th Collection Deluxe Edition is exactly what it says on the box. We have here the ultimate collection of the F13 films. All the films are featured on their own disc, with film specific extras, and there is also an entire extra disc of bonus materials too!

Plot wise? There are teenagers, adults, a few kids, Jason Voorhees, his mom, and yeah. Jason or his mom kill loads of folk. A fair few final girls (and a final guy) take turns in “killing” them. Rinse and repeat for the many sequels. I’m not going to do an in depth synopsis of each film, as if this et interests you, then you already know the stories.

Friday The 13th Collection Deluxe Edition Analysis:

Right off the bat, i have to say this is almost like a dream come true for me. For years, I dreamt of a box set that encompassed the entire F13 saga. And I always thought it wouldn’t happen, with the films being split across 2 different studios, and multiple rights holders. Yet here we are, in 2021, with a set featuring the entire saga! Yes, it’s only available on Region A Blu Ray for now, but I wouldn’t be surprised if someone like Arrow tried to negotiate a UK/Region B release at some point. Of course that would be even more complex as you would have to factor in a third studio (The original F13 is distributed by Warner Bros outside of the US & Canada, as opposed to Paramount).

But is this set worth the fairly significant outlay? Of course it is! You get each film presented on it’s own, individual disc. Parts 1 to 4 have all been remastered from new 4k prints, whilst the remainder of the set uses the prints seen on prior Blu Ray releases. And they all look pretty damn good, if I’m being honest. Certainly, it’s the first 4 that look the best, then the last 3 (being the most recent and modern). But the mid-series film don’t exactly look bad, often looking better than their low budget origins would indicate that perhaps the should.

A big selling point is the inclusion of Part 3 in proper 3D for the first time on home media. No more shitty red/blue almost but not quite right 3D anymore. Nope. If you still have a 3D TV, or a VR headset (such as PSVR) then you can watch Part 3 in all it’s 3D glory. And it is truly superb.

And the packaging is pretty special too. The films come in individual amaray cases, with reversible artwork. These all slot into a lovely slipcase, featuring all new artwork. A booklet and poster are also included.
